Take your downtown Nashville walk to new heights at Bluff Landing

The investment around the riverfront greenway also promises shopping and entertainment.

Get ready to hit the pavement grass — downtown Nashville’s green space is getting a fresh look. In April, Bluff Landing will open to the public at Peabody Union and connect to the Cumberland River Greenway and Olive, the 27-story residential tower anchoring the area.

By the numbers, the $3 million, 1-acre project will front 400 ft of the Cumberland River bluff and include a 2,600-sqft observation deck with stadium-style steps situated on the lawns. Live music, pop-ups, and market events are also in the works.

A portion of the investment goes beyond the greenway. Plans outline pedestrian improvements, such as widened sidewalks along Peabody Street + a new traffic and pedestrian crosswalk on Korean Veterans Boulevard.

“We took inspiration from some of the great greenway destinations in the US, such as the High Line in New York City, the Navy Yards in D.C., and the Atlanta Beltline,” Ray Hensler of Hensler Development Group said.

The South Bank addition comes as outdoor recreation in the urban core is on the rise. Church Street Park continues to expand its free programming, and a 1.3-acre pedestrian park will make up a portion of the Nashville Yards development in the coming months.
