What to know about BNA’s upcoming central core closure

The renovation is part of a broader effort to prepare BNA for up to 40 million annual passengers by 2029.

Flying out of BNA between June 1 and late 2027? The way you navigate the terminal may look a little different as the airport’s “central core” closes for an 18-month renovation.

This area includes the main escalators and elevators connecting baggage claim, ticketing, and ground transportation levels.

Getting around during construction

  • The pedestrian bridge (Level 5) will close during construction.
  • As such, garage users must go down to Level 1 and use the crosswalk to enter the terminal.
  • From there, head up to Level 3 (departures) for ticketing and security.
  • Passengers will continue to be dropped off on Level 3 and picked up on Level 2.

Although there will be construction around it, the Grand Lobby will remain open. When the project is complete, BNA’s central core will more than double its vertical capacity with 16 escalators, upgraded elevators, and a new Level 4 landing.
