Tennessee Titans hire head coach Brian Callahan

The news comes after the team interviewed as many as 10 candidates for the role throughout the month.

It’s official. Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan is the Tennessee Titans’ new coach.

Callahan arrives in Tennessee after five seasons with the Bengals and 13 years in the NFL. He succeeds Mike Vrabel, who was fired on Jan. 9 after six seasons with the Titans.

Let’s get to know Callahan — and give him a warm Music City welcome — as he heads into his first head coaching job in the league.

About Callahan

Callahan’s NFL journey started in 2010 as a coaching assistant with the Denver Broncos. After holding multiple positions in Denver, he served as the quarterbacks coach for the Detroit Lions (2016-2017) and Oakland Raiders (2018).

In 2019, he joined the Bengals as the offensive coordinator, a tenure that saw the team reach the Super Bowl in the 2021 season. Fun fact: Prior to his career in the league, Callahan played quarterback at UCLA.

What the team is saying

In the team’s announcement, controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said, in part, “He’s (Callahan) worked in a variety of dynamic offenses with top-flight quarterbacks. At each step of his career, he’s shown the flexibility and intelligence to make an impact.”

Hear from the coach first hand when the Titans introduce him during a press conference scheduled for Jan. 25 at 1 p.m.
