After almost a year of bringing you NASHtoday, we thought we should formally re-introduce ourselves. After all, there are a lot of new faces around here between y’all and us. Consider this our official meet-cute.

Meet Skylar ❤️‍🔥🤠

Q: Fill in the blank: The coolest person I’ve met in Nashville is ___________.A: While I haven’t been a Nashville resident for long, I have gotten to meet some pretty cool people who call it home. In a past life, I interned for NBC News in New York City. Long story long, no one in my department was available to interview Dan + Shay ahead of the Grammys. No one, that is, except an eager college junior named Skylar. I’m still riding that high, clearly.

Q: What are your tips for parking downtown on a weekend night?A: Several things you should know about me are: 1. I dislike driving, and 2. I cannot park with the added pressure of traffic. I also have a strong fear of being towed — there’s a lot to unpack here. Last weekend, I parked in McKendree Garage (across from the library garage). I was there for five hours + paid $10. I believe there’s also a set price for extended parking beyond a specific number of hours, which I can appreciate.

Q: You can only choose one local restaurant menu to bring with you to a deserted island — which one is it + why?A: My love for 51st Deli knows no bounds. I could eat any decked out sandwich for breakfast, lunch, and dinner — but the turkey avocado especially has a hold on me. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that I can walk there on my lunch breaks in the spring.

Meet Dylan 🎶💕

Q: You’re ordering a drink from a Nashville coffee shop. What’s in it?A: While I love scouting out creative, limited-time drinks, I have three go-to coffees in Nashville: Fireside Latte at The Well, dirty horchata at Tempo (paired with breakfast tacos, of course), and the Local Latte from Fido.

Q: If you were taking someone on a tour around Nashville, where are the three places you’re going?A: Let’s pretend it’s a sunny spring Saturday. If they’ve never been here before, I’d start the morning off with the Nashville Farmers Market accompanied by a stroll through Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. Then, explore the gardens at Cheekwood in Bloom. Finally, we’d spend the afternoon record shopping at Grimey’s and Phonoluxe.

Q: Describe Nashville’s personality in three words.A: Lively. Welcoming. Growing.
