A ‘Little Women'-inspired holiday movie is filming in Franklin

Christmas in July? While there’s no snow in the forecast, don’t be surprised if you see downtown Franklin decked out for the holidays a few months early.

If you see people walking around downtown Franklin in heavy coats or businesses decked out in wreaths, there’s a festive reason.

The cast and production crew of “A Little Women’s Christmas” are in town filming a modern retelling of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel for Great American Family’s 2024 holiday movie lineup. The film “follows the lives and loves of the March sisters in a small Tennessee town at Christmas” and stars Jillian Murray, Laura Osnes, Jen Lilley, and Julia Reilly. Gladys Knight will also appear in the film.

The production continues along Main Street and inside some local stores through Tuesday, July 23, according to the City of Franklin. While there are no street closures in place, pedestrians will be intermittently stopped during filming.

However, director Brandon Clark welcomes you to watch the action, saying “It’s all about our audience. We’re making it for them, so if they can be part of a journey, we’re taking it on, all the way through.”
