Pop quiz: How many US Presidents are from Tennessee? *Jeopardy music plays.*

If you guessed three, you’d be correct (though none were born here): Andrew Johnson, James K. Polk, and Andrew Jackson, who built his estate — The Hermitage — right in Nashville’s backyard. Visitors are invited to explore this 1,120-acre National Historic Landmark year-round, and there’s plenty to see + do during the holidays. Think:

  • Touring the Greek Revival-style mansion the Jacksons called home
  • Strolling through the garden fit for a First Lady (though Rachel Jackson passed away before her husband’s inauguration)
  • Hiking the trails with your four-legged friend + seeing more than 20 historic buildings
  • Stopping by Natchez Hills Winery for tastings, flights, pints, and bottles of local wine and craft beer

Don’t expect to see any tinsel, though. The holidays are interpreted at The Hermitage as they would have happened during Jackson’s lifetime, aka before the Christmas celebrations + decorations we know and love. (However, you can attend a Christmas Cocktail Workshop there on Fri., Dec. 10.) 🍸*
