You’ve heard of yoga, but let’s add a little spice, shall we? 🤌

Last week, Editor Skylar was itching to try something new when she ran across Goat Yoga Nashville. She loves animals and working out, so she thought this wasn’t a baaaad way to de-stress. We’re telling you what to expect + what our experience was like so you can Try This, too.

What to expect

📍2626 York Rd., Nolensville
💰 $30+
⏰ One-hour class
📝 Everyone must sign a liability waiver, even if you’re just coming to watch like Editor Dylan

While you’re free to bring your own mat, some will be provided for you at no additional charge. Pro tip: These are outside animals and they do go to the bathroom. Take that information as you will when deciding whether to use your own mat. Instructors recommend wearing clothes with sleeves and leggings if possible to prevent any hoove scratches.

You’ve goat this pose down

We’re not kidding when we say this beginner class is as hands-on as any other you may have tried. In fact, Editor Skylar found an extra level of difficulty added to the balance aspect of some of these basic poses — ya know, with the extra 12-pound goat on your back and all. These were some of her favorites:

  • The Cat-Cow stretch: Helps ease back pain + increase flexibility in your spine, neck, chest, and shoulders
  • Child’s Pose: A nice pose to take a break and relax between various stretches
  • Baby Pigeon Pose: Boosts hip flexibility + releases the glutes and lower back

Upcoming events

Most classes take place on Fridays and Saturdays at the barn in Nolensville. However, there is an upcoming class on Mon., July 25 in Franklin (4021 Aspen Grove Dr.).

For a full schedule of upcoming classes, visit Goat Yoga Nashville’s Eventbrite page. Party favor: Throughout October, the goats will be dressed in costume to celebrate Halloween — so plan accordingly.
