For a cultural experience, explore the Tennessee Aquarium and the Hunter Museum of American Art. Consider The Dwell Hotel or the scenic Wauhatchie Woodlands for a cozy stay, both offering unique accommodations in Chattanooga.

According to City Editors Callie + Erika, Charleston offers a culinary adventure. Try waterfront dining at Fleet Landing, indulge at two restaurants recently featured on Bon Appétit’s list of best new restaurants: King BBQ and Bintü Atelier, savor local seafood at Ellis Creek Fish Camp, or dig into casual barbecue at Swig & Swine.

For a dose of history, visit the International African American Museum or explore the grounds of Charles Towne Landing State Park. While you’re in the area, take in the views from the Ravenel Bridge, catch a show at Forte Jazz Lounge, or relax at one of the charming accommodations like Wild Dunes or The Charleston Place in the heart of downtown.

Lexington, KY

If you’re looking to entertain everyone in your family, City Editor Molly recommends strolling around downtown. Browse the farmers market in Tandy Park, followed by brunch at popular downtown favorites Pearl’s, Doodle’s, or Zim’s if you’re visiting on a weekend.

Walk off your breakfast with a self-guided mural tour, a visit to the Lexington Children’s Museum, or catch a movie in the historic Kentucky Theatre. If the outdoors are more your thing, take a scenic hike in the Red River Gorge or one of the 100+ local parks. Plus, find out why Lexington is called the Horse Capital of the World by visiting the Kentucky Horse Park and Keeneland.

RICtoday City Editor Robin recommends grabbing lunch at Eazzy Burger, ZZQ, and Ardent Craft Ales, all sharing a vibrant outdoor space in Scott’s Addition. Get a sandwich at Mr. Submarine or Garnett’s for a more casual bite.

When sightseeing, stroll the T. Pott Bridge over the James River, stop by Main Street Station, and wander through the historic Hollywood Cemetery.

Don’t miss Maymont for its wildlife and history, and the VMFA, which is free and open year-round. For accommodations, consider the artsy Quirk Hotel with its rooftop bar and art gallery, or the historic Jefferson Hotel for a luxurious stay.

Greenville, SC

City Editors Danielle and Stephanie offer essential tips for Greenville visitors: while biking the Swamp Rabbit Trail, remember to say “on your left” when passing. Avoid Woodruff Road, especially during the holidays, and consider visiting when Clemson is playing. Note the distinction between Augusta Road and Augusta Street, and skip swimming in the Reedy River.

For dining, indulge at Sum Bar and the iconic Soby’s. Don’t miss Falls Park and the Liberty Bridge, and for accommodations, check out the Grand Bohemian Lodge or Hotel Hartness for a memorable stay.

Charlotte, NC

Foodies should book a trip to Charlotte, according to City Editor Jack. He notes standout dining options like Calle Sol, a Cuban and Peruvian restaurant in the SouthPark and Plaza Midwood neighborhoods + Steak 48, perfect for a special night out.

Great views of the Uptown skyline begin at Romare Bearden Park, or head to the Whitewater Center for outdoor adventures. Explore the city by walking the Rail Trail in South End, sipping a drink at Sycamore Brewing, or taking a leisurely stroll through the scenic Myers Park and Freedom Park.
