The Tennessee Titans appear to have found their next head coach, with multiple outlets reporting the team is finalizing a deal to hire Robert Saleh. While we wait for official word from the team, here are five things to know about the reported hire:

He’s a Super Bowl champion

Saleh was on the Seattle Seahawks’ coaching staff when the team won the 2014 Super Bowl.

That wasn’t his only Super Bowl appearance

As the 49ers’ defensive coordinator, he helped lead San Francisco to the 2020 Super Bowl, though they ultimately fell to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Saleh also has head coaching experience

Saleh served as the New York Jets’ head coach from 2021 to 2024, compiling a 20-36 record across four seasons.

His background goes deeper than that

Saleh has coached at both the NFL and college levels since 2002, with additional roles for the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

He returned to San Francisco this season

Following a brief stint as an offensive consultant with the Packers, Saleh rejoined the 49ers’ staff as a defensive coordinator during the 2025 season. The team reached the postseason and finished with a 12-5 record.
