Coffee is in session. If you’ve ever wondered how the barista at your favorite coffee shop makes the best cup of joe, we’re going to let you in on a secret. Several shops around town host coffee classes each month exploring a variety of brew methods. We’ve pulled together a few September classes below to help get you started.

  • Want to perfect your pour over? 8th and Roast is hosting its Mastering Pour Over class on Fri., Sept. 16 at the Charlotte Avenue location. You’ll also learn how to make the coffee shop’s house V60 recipe. Reserve tickets for $45.
  • The Well is launching cupping classes this month at its roastery and coffee lab (5000 Linbar Dr.). In this one-hour class, you will learn how to taste + evaluate coffee like a pro. Sign up for $50 classesoffered on three dates in September and throughout the year.
  • Crema Coffee Roasters offers a variety of coffee classes each month. September’s offerings include everything from Intro to Roasting to an Espresso Drink Master Class. Tickets range from $45-$190.

Looking ahead to fall, Bongo Java plans to introduce coffee cupping classes (think: what gives a particular coffee its blueberry essence or earthy undertones).
