Powerball hits $1.9 billion

We won’t say the odds are in your favor — but it’s fun to imagine.

Now that’s Bruce Wayne money.

A record Powerball jackpot will go even higher without a winner on Saturday.

In November 2016, a $144 million winning ticket was purchased in Antioch. Three years later, a ticket sold in Hendersonville was claimed for $198 million. Think lightning could strike the Nashville area again? (Actually, the odds of getting struck by lightning are one in about 15,000, as opposed to the Powerball’s one in 292 million.)

The upfront cash option would total $929.1 million. We can think of a few ways to spend that money...

  • Tennessee’s most expensive home, for starters: $50 million in Belle Meade.
  • All of the most expensive musical memorabilia ever sold, including Kurt Cobain’s $8 million guitar and Ringo Starr’s $3 million drum kit.
  • 30,970,000 shows at Ryman Auditorium.
  • 77,425,000 Hattie B’s jumbo tender baskets.

Maybe our imagination just isn’t big enough. What would you spend your winnings on?
