New Year’s resolutions are… how do we put this…

Let’s just say they can be a challenge. But whether you love them or hate them, resolutions are a great way to refocus your goals for the new year. As for us…

Editor Dylan’s resolutions

Try more restaurants

Cooking is my creature comfort, but it is my goal to try one new restaurant each week. I’ve had my eyes on the falafel plate at King Tut’s, pop-up restaurant Deep Sea Vegan, and Church and Union’s new brunch service.

Visit more parks

My go-to outdoor escapes are Radnor Lake and Mill Creek Greenway, but with 100+ public parks, I have a lot of ground to cover. I plan to use this interactive parks finder to start checking off my list. First up: a Saturday morning at Bell’s Bend.

Brush up on local history

The best part of this job? I learn something new about Nashville every day. In my free time, I plan to check out Nashville Sites’ self-guided tours (South Broadway architecture is first on my list). + spend time at Jefferson Street Sound Museum. This resolution is sure to spark a few story ideas, so stay tuned.

Get creative

Hands-on workshops like painting or sculpting make for some of the most unique — and often therapeutic — experiences. Some classes I have my eyes on are pottery making at The Clay Lady, a virtual painting party via Sips n Strokes, and a Bob Ross oil painting workshop with Metro Parks Centennial Art Center.

Attend more sporting events

One of my favorite things about moving to Nashville from South Carolina is the presence of professional sports. I’ve found a new love for hockey and am already excited to snag tickets to Preds games in 2022. It would also be incredible to attend the TOYOTA US Figure Skating Championships in January or the Ally 400 NASCAR Cup Series in April.

Laugh a little

We could all use a little joy in our lives, and Nashville’s comedy clubs are here to help. Some spots I want to check out are Zanies, The East Room, and Third Coast Comedy Club. There are also a few major comedy events coming to Bridgestone Arena like Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias (Feb. 20) + Jim Gaffigan (Mar. 30).

Of course, our resolution at NASHtoday is to continue educating + activating our community by providing you with the most relevant local content in the city. That’s where you come in. Let us know what you want to hear in the new year.
