Last week, Metro Animal Care and Control announced there was only one large kennel available in the adoption room, pushing the shelter to its capacity. As of yesterday afternoon, 85 dogs and eight cats were still awaiting furever homes.

If you’ve been looking for a sign to adopt, Mars Petcare is sponsoring adoption fees through Sunday, March 12 — meaning you can take home one of the five rescues below at absolutely no cost to you. Pro tip: Not ready to care for a pet of your own, but hoping to help? MACC is also searching for foster pawrents (food and supplies are provided).

Baguette | ~1 year | ~50 pounds | Male

  • Baguette is all about adventure and gets along well with other dogs.

Bentley | ~2.5 years | 59 pounds | Male

  • Bentley is fully housebroken, great on his leash, and sits patiently for treats.

Woody | ~2 years | ~68 pounds | Male

  • Woody is kennel trained, a breeze to walk, and always eager for a stroll — he will thrive in a home with no cats.

Albe | ~2 years | 51 pounds | Male

  • Albe is very smart and knows “sit” and “shake,” plus likes to show his affection with kisses and snuggles.

Hera | ~2 years | ~50 pounds | Female

  • Hera is already house-trained, extremely smart, and loves to snuggle and show affection — she does well with dogs on the gentler side.
