Today we’re talking love stories, Nashville love stories that is. Y’all were kind enough to share your first date stories, engagement tales, and other scenes that could’ve been plucked straight out of a Music City movie with us, and we’d like to spread the love.
Without further ado, here are six times that Cupid visited Nashville. 💘
🏒 Couple *goals*
“My husband and I met at a Nashville Predators game on Feb. 9, 2016. We sat next to each other at the game and ended up talking through the whole game. He was too shy to get my number that night, but thanks to [Facebook], he messaged me the next morning. We’ve been together ever since. In 2018, he proposed on Feb. 9, and then in 2019, we got married on Feb 9. So, Feb. 9 (and the Nashville Predators) will always be special to us! ❤️” — DeShawn H.
🏈 Third Saturday in October
“My wife and I have been married for almost 22 years. We met on a blind date, setup by my ex-girlfriend. When we met, she had two other people with her. Her IDENTICAL TWIN sister and her best friend. Lisa said about 5 words to me for that entire hour. At the end, her best friend was like, ‘Hey, if you don’t want him, I do!’ And she was like go ahead. However, she did not give her my number. After that initial ‘date’ we did not see each other for 6 weeks. I tried everything to get her to see me again — concert tix, movies, Titans games, all a ‘o.’ Now in her defense, the ‘no’ was because she was taking care of her severely ill grandmother, but that is beside the point.
Then one Saturday morning, (6:30 a.m., if I remember), Lisa calls me! A first! She tells me, ‘I’m going to be at Cracker Barrel at 7 a.m. If you are there, I’ll see you, if not, I won’t!’ We met! Had breakfast, and decided to spend some more time together. I was moving into my new condo at the time, so I was running back and forth to Walmart, Home Depot, etc. She went with me, so our first official ‘date’ was going to Walmart. Later that day, the third Saturday in October, she fell asleep on the couch, at a ‘strangers’ house, being this is the first time in 6 weeks she had seen me, while I put together furniture and watched the Tennessee vs. Alabama game. Closing note, we were married 364 days later on the third Saturday in October (was I love struck or what?!?). All the men in the audience left the reception to listen to the game in their cars.” — Mike M.
🏐 Love at first spike
“I loved to play volleyball. My church, Hermitage United Methodist in Hermitage, had a gym and a pickup volleyball game every Monday night. When you go in, you sign a paper and the first six play the next six and rotate in as needed. I liked to play by two 6’3” men that I saw there because I was a setter in high school and college and they were both great spikers. Eventually this one man introduced himself to me and asked me to play on his league coed team. I agreed I’d like to and that man asked me to marry him eight years later. Not a real romantic meeting, but a unique one nevertheless! — Brenda B.
🎸 A honky tonk love story
“I met my lovely girlfriend while visiting Nashville for a friend’s birthday trip. She had just moved to Nashville and was out with some friends on Broadway. We met on the rooftop at Tootsies in July 2019. Fast forward to October 2020, and I was making the cross country trek from Montana to make Nashville my new home. We are both loving our time in Music City! — Brandon K.
📛 “Happily ever after”
In 2003, there was a speed-dating event at the Vanderbilt Marriott hotel. I met two guys that I clicked with. One of them I married in 2004, and the other I introduced to my best friend.hey got married in 2007! We are all living happily ever after. — Lisa L.
🌉 A special place for Nashville
My husband and I visited Nashville back in 2015. We were dating at the time. We fell in love with Music City and vowed to be back every year. In 2018, we went back and actually got engaged on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. It was very special, as I was not expecting it. Then in October 2019, we went back and got married in Nashville! Nashville holds a very special place for us. — Deborah T.
