Are you ready for your closeup? While Nashville’s film industry isn’t quite yet on par with Atlanta or LA, it’s not unusual to see casting calls for commercials, music videos, TV shows, and movies.

In the past month, movie extras filled Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena for a film about NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner starring Zachary Levi + production just wrapped up here on a new Lifetime flick featuring Heather Locklear.

🎬 What types of projects are usually casting?

Can you keep a secret? As it turns out, most projects are kept tightly under wraps, only offering casting details such as “undisclosed TV series” or an “undisclosed artist music video.”

However, if a reality TV star is your calling, Netflix is coming to Bridgestone Arena on Wed., Sept. 1 as part of its 5-city Netflix Reality Road Trip casting event. The streaming service is currently casting for shows like “Nailed It,” “The Circle,” and others + plans to host live auditions and possible surprise appearances by Netflix alums.

🎬 What do I need to know about being an extra?

While it varies from job to job, recent local casting calls have paid extras $50 for up to 4 hours of work or $100 for up to 10 hours. During the pandemic, most jobs have required masks to be worn on set.

🎬 What pages to follow
