Nashville is having a smash burger renaissance of sorts. Is this really surprising? We are Smashville, after all.

The style of burger taking over the local pop-up scene involves thin, crispy patties often served on Martin’s Potato Rolls with a variety of toppings and sauce. Hungry yet? Let us introduce you to three smash burger conceptsall of which launched this year.

🍔 Bad Luck Burger Club

This self-described “super secret smash burger pop-up” is a secret no more. The double-patty burgers — topped with American cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, and secret sauce — attract long lines at pop-ups all over town. Pro tip: Order a grilled cheese loaded with all the burger toppings for a meat-free option.

Upcoming schedule:

  • Thurs., Dec. 9 | 5 p.m. | Shops at Porter East, 701-801 Porter Rd.
  • Fri., Dec. 10 | 6 p.m. | Porter Flea, The Fairgrounds Nashville | $25 entry
  • Sat., Dec. 11 | 11 a.m. | Southern Grist Brewing, 5012 Centennial Blvd.
  • Sun., Dec. 12 | 11 a.m. | Giffords Bacon, 1109 Straightway Ave.

🍔 Cabin Attic Burgers

From grilling out on his back patio to working at a Michelin-starred restaurant in France, chef J.P. Murphy’s latest culinary adventure is in the form of smash burgers and pommes frites. Watch for new creations like the Adobe Burger — a double patty topped with green chiles and griddle-fried chihuahua cheese — which debuts this week.

Upcoming schedule:

  • Thurs., Dec. 9 | 5-9 p.m. | Prost & Riot, 12192 Lebanon Rd., Mt. Juliet
  • Fri., Dec. 10 | 4-9 p.m. | Monday Night Preservation Society, 1308 Adams St.
  • Sat., Dec. 11 | 12-4 p.m. | Bearded Iris, 101 Van Buren St.

🍔 The Little Weirdo

The newest of the bunch, The Little Weirdo is the sister pop-up to vegan bakery Yellow & Lavender. And just like its plant-based sibling, these vegan, gluten-free smash burgers are made with double-stacked Impossible patties, melted cheese, special sauce, and crispy onions. Gluten-free buns are also available.

Upcoming schedule:

  • Fri., Dec. 17 | 12-3 p.m. (or sell out) | Elegy Coffee, 2909A Gallatin Pk.
