The first round of the 13-game SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament tips off today in Music City.

The tournament — last played at Bridgestone Arena in 2018 — will be broadcast on the SEC Network + ESPN through Sunday. But with tickets starting at $8 per game, why not check it out in person?

If you’re not sure who is playing, we’ve got you covered. Here’s the breakdown of the 2022 standings (we see you, Vanderbilt + Tennessee) and the full tournament schedule.

Vanderbilt (No. 13) will take on Texas A&M (No. 12) at noon today, followed by Alabama (No. 11) and Auburn (No. 14) at 2:30 p.m. The No. 3 seed Tennessee will take on the winner of Game Six6 on Friday night.

The conference championship is scheduled for 1 p.m. on March 6. The winner will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Cue the applause.

Why it matters

It could be awhile before the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament returns to Nashville. Last week, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey announced it will be held in Greenville, SC through at least 2025 (hey, GVLtoday 👋).

But that doesn’t mean SEC basketball is going anywhere. In 2018, the conference inked a deal with the Nashville Sports Council to keep the Men’s Basketball Tournament in Music City through at least 2030 — and possibly to 2035 — with the exception of this year.

The council estimates that the tournaments will produce $350 million in economic impact with an estimated 3.2 million fans filling 200,000+ hotel rooms over the life of the agreement.

Ready for some basketball? Fill out your bracket + find your spot inside Bridgestone Arena. Tickets are available for all games, including the championship.
