The Word

Eastpoint

That’s the name given to the new neighborhood planned on Metro-owned land along the East Bank.

Why the name

The Fallon Company — the master developer for 30 acres around Nissan Stadium — said Eastpoint reflects Nashville “returning to its river,” a nod to the bend of the Cumberland where the city once grew around industry and riverfront activity.

How it’ll take shape

Eastpoint will rise as a mixed-use district with housing, a hotel, and new public greenspaces as key components. The 323-unit affordable housing building, developed in partnership with Elmington Capital Group, is expected to break ground next year.

More names to know

Eastpoint is just one slice of the East Bank, a more than 500-acre swath stretching from I-24 to where I-65 crosses the river. If you’re tracking all the new development areas, River North and East Bend (the scrapyard site) are in the mix as well.
