We asked you which of NASHtoday’s sister cities you wanted to travel to next. Grab your luggage because we’re boarding for Kansas City, MO; Raleigh, NC; and Tampa, FL.
As a reminder, we have 27 siblings, so be ready to print a boarding pass for even more destinations.
Kansas City, MO
Feel like a local in this certified sports city by taking a ride on the streetcar to CPKC Stadium, home of the KC Current + the world’s first purpose-built women’s sport stadium, or dive in to America’s pastime at 18th & Vine’s Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
Getting hungry? When you’re ready to dine, the saucier the better — City Editor Maddie recommends trying Kansas City’s world-famous barbecue at local gems like Arthur Bryant’s or the more upscale Jack Stack. Top off your visit with a nightcap at one of the city’s numerous jazz clubs, offering atmospheric experiences like the all-red Green Lady Lounge.

More Mexican cuisine is on the downtown development plate for early 2025. Chefs Richard Sandoval and Pablo Salas will open Florida-based Lona inside Noelle, taking over Makeready L&L’s space. Expect dishes like shrimp pastor tacos topped with pineapple butter + short rib enchiladas in smoky guajillo sauce.
Traffic
Metro officials are proposing a new road to Cheekwood, with hopes it could alleviate traffic. The half-mile roadway would cover Percy Warner Park’s northern edge, before reaching a new intersection at Highway 100 and leading visitors to the main entrance. A public hearing is set for Jan. 9. (Nashville Business Journal)
Number
$11.9 million. That’s the collective amount Metro received in SMART grants for Mufreesboro Pike and Nolensville Road improvements. Nolensville Road will see $10 million go towards light detection and ranging technologies + $1.9 million will be used for enhancing WeGo service on Murfreesboro Pike.
Development
Metro is working on a new fire department headquarters, which is currently spread across multiple locations. As the design process begins and construction starts on the new Fire Station 2, operations will temporarily move to the Bridgestone Building at Global Mall.
