We know the question on your mind, Music City — when’s it going to get warm again?

Thanks to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center, we know what temperatures and precipitation trends to expect in our city for March, April, and May. While exact weather conditions typically can’t be predicted more than a week in advance, here’s a seasonal outlook to help you prepare for what spring will bring.

Reminder: The first day of spring is on Tuesday, March 19.

A map of the US shows some areas color coded in orange hues meaning they are leaning above normal for warmer temperatures this season. Nashville falls white, meaning there is equal chances.

Don’t give up on your garden just yet, Nashville.

☀️ Drought

More on March

Typically in Nashville, March temperatures fluctuate between an average low of 41.5° and an average high of 58.6°, which should remain relatively accurate this year. Pro tip: March has an average daily maximum UV index of 4, so don’t slack on the sunscreen on your midday walk at Sevier Park.

All about April

In April, the average low and high temps are between 50.7° and 69.3°. Did you know? April is the last month it snows in Nashville. There are usually only 0.3 snowfall days, coupled with nearly nine hours of sunshine each day, and that’s a recipe for pretty spring colors.

Make memories in May

Historically, average highs in May increase ~9° to 78.1°, with an average low of 59.5°. The month also sees about three more days of rainfall than April and an increase in humidity. Make sure you bring your pocket-sized fans to First Horizon Park for Sounds games.
