We know the question on your mind, Music City — when’s it going to get warm again?

Thanks to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center, we know what temperatures and precipitation trends to expect in our city for March, April, and May. While exact weather conditions typically can’t be predicted more than a week in advance, here’s a seasonal outlook to help you prepare for what spring will bring.

Reminder: The first day of spring is Thursday, March 20.

Temperature

Think warm. This spring, Nashville has a 33-40% chance of temperatures being higher than normal.

Precipitation

Expect slightly more precipitation. Nashville has a 40-50% chance of seeing above average rainfall amounts this spring.

More on March

Typically in Nashville, March temperatures fluctuate between an average low of 41.5° and an average high of 58.6°, but those numbers might be slightly higher this year. March is also the first month the city will see a 7 p.m. sunset, so we’ll take advantage of the warmer weather (and extra daylight) by spending more time in one of Nashville’s parks.

All about April

In April, the average low and high temps are between 50.7° and 69.3°. Cheekwood in Bloom might be calling. More precipitation coupled with nearly nine hours of sunshine each day in April sounds like a recipe for pretty spring colors this season.

Make memories in May

Historically, average highs in May increase ~9° to 78.1°, with an average low of 59.5°. Humidity increases this month, and you can expect the highest UV indexes of the year May through August. Make sure you bring your pocket-sized fans and put on an extra layer of sunscreen at Nashville Sounds games.
