Assembly Food Hall’s rooftop could see a facelift

Skydeck on Broadway just might have you covered — picture a canopy over this open air area. | Photo by Nick L. via Assembly Food Hall
Inclement weather seems to be the primary reason behind the Assembly Food Hall operator’s desire for a cover over Skydeck on Broadway.

On average, up to 12 shows are canceled a year due to weather — a revenue loss of ~$150,000 annually. If approved, changes would allow for an additional hard covering over much of the current soft canopy and open air space. Plans suggest this solution will allow for an additional 76+ events and $2.2 million over the course of a year.

The Metro Development and Housing Agency Design Review Committee will evaluate the idea at a meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Did we trick ya? Just under half of our readers (45.8%) got Monday’s trivia question correct — between Church Street and what is now Charlotte Avenue. The prison opened on Jan. 1, 1831 and closed in 1898. Visit its historical marker.

Almost all other respondents (43.8%) guessed that we were pulling a fast one and said the prison’s Cockrill Bend location was the original. In case you missed it, you can read our story here. Thanks for playing along.
