TBT to the days where you would flip through a Guinness World Records book hoping to one day set one yourself. While most of us probably can’t say we’ve grown up to set a world record (don’t worry, our day is coming), we recently came across a few records set in Music City.

Did you know today is Guinness World Records Day? Naturally, we’ve compiled a list of the impressive feats taken on right in our neighborhood.

Most balloons burst with the mouth in 30 seconds

  • 40 balloons | Well, that’s a mouthful. In October of 2017, Ashrita Furman accomplished this on “Pickler & Ben.”

Largest singing lesson

  • 6,651 people | Of course we would have to showcase a record on brand for Music City. Oklahoma-based Sweet Adelines International, a female barber shop singers organization, held its 63rd annual convention and competition at Sommet Center (now Bridgestone Arena) in 2009.

Most basketball half-court shots in one minute (male)

  • 10 shots | Nothing but netting records. Adam Beatrice sunk 10 of 24 half-court shots in one minute at Lipscomb University. The 2011 record holder actually attempted to break the record seven times that day.

Most hunger relief meals packaged in one hour (team)

  • 530,064 | This fills our cup way up. The Bobby Bones Show, TEEMHaiti, and Numana, Inc. came together at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in 2013 to package meals of rice, soy, dried pinto beans, and a vitamin/mineral substance. The meals were sent to the Maison Des Enfants De Dieu orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

What record should we break in Nashville next? Send your ideas our way.
