It’s that time again, Nashville foodies. If you love tacos, empanadas, and waffles — that’s all of us, right? — you’ll want to pencil in these early December events that will guac your world.

Nashville Scene Taco Week

Monday, Dec. 4-Sunday, Dec. 10 | Locations vary | $5 per taco

Enjoy taco specials at 40 participating restaurants and vote for your favorites throughout the week. Attend Monday’s kick-off party (5-7 p.m.) at Live Oak for tacos and drink specials. We don’t play favorites when it comes to tacos, but here are a few specials we’re excited to try:

  • Punk Wok | Spicy Tuna Taco, made with spicy ahi tuna, crunchy cabbage slaw, and fresh guacamole
  • Saint Añejo | Buffalo Cauliflower Tacos, made with avocado serrano, ranch, slaw, corn, queso fresco, and pickled red onion
  • Makeshift | Four burger tacos (bacon jam, chili cheese, and more)
  • Live Oak | Six varieties, including an apple pie dessert taco with a cinnamon shell

Empanada Tasting

Wednesday, Dec. 6 | Skydeck, 5055 Broadway | $45

Vote for your favorite empanada at the Tennessee Latin American Chamber of Commerce’s 8th annual tasting event. Admission includes three empanadas, one postre (dessert), and two-hour parking validation at Assembly Food Hall. Plus, there will be drinks available for purchase and live entertainment.

Waffle Shop

Thursday, Dec. 7 | The Downtown Presbyterian Church, 154 Rep. John Lewis Way N. | $17.85

Waffles and community are at the heart of this event dating back to 1925 . What began as a fundraiser for the Presbyterian Women’s Group is now a holiday tradition supporting the church’s Fish & Loaves ministry, which provides free meals and essential items to those in need. Admission includes:

  • Waffles, grits, choice of Hattie B’s (hot or mild) chicken or Puckett’s country bacon, and choice of Frothy Monkey coffee or spiced tea
  • A guided tour of The Downtown Presbyterian Church’s historic Egyptian Revival sanctuary
  • The opportunity to shop baked goods, handmade crafts, and more + participate in a silent auction

Pro tip: There will be free parking and shuttle service available at Nissan Stadium (Lot B).
