Over 10 flamingos stand in water in front of the camera lens as four people stand on the other side of a fence looking at them.

We’re tickled pink thinking about all we have to look forward to.

March madness has arrived, and no, we’re not talking about what’s happening on the court. Beginning Friday, March 8, the Nashville Zoo extends its daily hours (9 a.m.-6 p.m.), also marking the return of a slew of zoo features.

What’s coming

  • Daily Wild Works Animal Shows are back (with the exception of Tuesdays) at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Grassmere Historic Home tours also resume.
  • Lorikeet Landing will reopen (when it’s sunny and above 55°).

Pro tip: Bookmark the “Today at the Zoo” tab for the March Keeper Talk schedule.

What to know

  • Screaming Gibbon Pizza Kitchen and Quills Cafe & Grille launched new menus.
  • Advanced time entry reservations are still required.
  • The “Know Before You Go” tab will tell you which features are unavailable before your visit. For a chunk of time, giraffes will not be visible as the zoo works on the new Leopard Forest habitat. The rope bridge at Spider Monkey is also closed for renovation.

What to do

  • Watch two new short films in Adventure 4D Theater — “BBC Earth’s Shark: A 4D Experience®" and “The Bear and The Squirrel 4D.”
  • Eggstravaganzoo, the zoo’s annual egg hunt, returns on Saturday, March 30
  • Plan Ahead: Sips for Species is coming back a second year on Friday, April 26. The after-dark experience includes adult beverages and food trucks, live music, keeper talks, and animal encounters.
