The curtains are opening on the Nashville Ballet’s 2022-2023 seasonwhich begins this week. Let us guide you as we outline the company’s six productions.

“Cinderella”

This adaptation by Artistic Director Paul Vasterling tells the classic tale of how one glass slipper and a clock that strikes midnight bring a stunning princess and a handsome prince together — with live music performed by the Nashville Symphony.

“Live in Studio A”

The immersive dance experience is hosted at the Martin Center for Nashville Ballet and includes Balanchine’s “The Four Temperaments,” Vasterling’s “Seasons” featuring music by Antonio Vivaldi, and the premiere of a new piece by Associate Artistic Director Nick Mullikin.

The holiday production unique to the Nashville Ballet features live music by the Nashville Symphony, original choreography by Vasterling, and a re-imagined snow scene.

“Attitude: Anthology”

This new production inspired by Nashville’s history is similar in style to “Lucy Negro Redux,” blending music, spoken word, and dance.

“New in Nashville”

“New in Nashville” honors Vasterling in his final year with the company, showcasing the growth of artists under his leadership. The audience can expect to see “Appalachian Spring,” including Cathy Marston’s “Snowblind” + and new ballets by Matthew Neenan and Tony-nominated choreographer Donald Byrd.

“The Sleeping Beauty”

The beloved fairytale is performed by Nashville Ballet Professional Division and Academy students featuring traditional characters Princess Aurora, the villainous Carabosse, and noble Lilac Fairy.
