A year in review

We know downtown is busy, but Nashville Downtown Partnership’s 2025 Annual Report shows just how much the core of Music City has grown in a calendar year. Here’s a snapshot:
  • 22,000 residents live downtown, up 10% from 2024.
  • 88,000 people work downtown.
  • New outdoor seating (pictured above) opened on 2nd Avenue.
  • The first “creative crosswalk” debuted near the Ryman.
  • 415 free park events were hosted across Church Street Park, Riverfront Park, and Walk of Fame Park.
  • 393 dining spots and 191 nightlife venues operate downtown.
  • CMA Fest drew 95,000 fans daily + generated $86 million in visitor spending.
  • Ambassadors removed more than 2.1 million pounds of trash.
  • NDP established the Nashville Downtown Arboretum, featuring 3,000+ trees across 50 species.
  • 140 retail businesses opened or were announced in 2025 — find the list on page 19 of the report.

Coming Soon

Detroit-based steakhouse Prime + Proper, known for in-house butchery, wood-fired cooking, and globally sourced Wagyu, is set to open Monday, Feb. 23 at Grand Hyatt. The steakhouse will also offer a Knife Society membership, which comes with private culinary experiences, priority reservations, and access to rare cuts.

Announced

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority approved a long-term license agreement with The Boring Company, paving the way for the Music City Loop’s airport connection. Under the deal, Boring will cover construction and operating costs, with the airport projecting at least $300 million in revenue over 40+ years. (The Tennessean)

Deir Cafe has expanded to Haywood Lane. The biz describes the original Wedgewood-Houston location as “your spot for peaceful morning coffee” and the new location as “your late-night coffee hangout,” as it’s open until 3 a.m. Check out the menu.

Two words: Harry Ferry. 107.5 The River is hosting a listening party for Harry Styles’ new album on Thursday, March 5 aboard the General Jackson Showboat. Tickets are being distributed through on-air contests and online entry, so head over to the radio station’s website for more details.

Plan Ahead

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will open the latest installment of “American Currents: State of the Music” on Wednesday, March 18, followed by opening weekend programs. The annual exhibit reviews the country music genre over the past year with objects representing Billy Strings, Sierra Ferrell, Ringo Starr, and many others.

Pets

A new festival named Whiskey & Wags is set for Saturday, March 28 at Two Rivers Mansion — and yes, dogs are welcome. The event will feature samples from 20+ Tennessee distilleries, live music, food vendors, and pet-friendly activities. Tickets are $85, with designated driver + VIP options also available.
