Weekly service will continue, but some residents — especially those with Monday collection now — will receive a new pickup day as the Department of Waste Services restructures routes.
What residents can expect
In early January, you’ll receive a postcard with your updated calendar and an online lookup tool will go live. You can also sign up for reminders through the Nashville Waste and Recycling app.
As the department optimizes all routes for the new schedules, residents with collections currently taking place Tuesday through Friday may also see their collection day change.
How do holidays fit into this?
If a Metro holiday falls on Tuesday through Friday, that day’s pickups move to Monday of the same week. If the holiday is on a Monday, the week’s schedule stays the same. The updated system reduces holiday disruptions and makes collection weeks more predictable, officials said.

Burgers for breakfast, anyone? And yes, if you look very closely, you can see the In-N-Out Burger building in Antioch.
Loyal In-N-Out fans camped out overnight, some arriving as early as 10 p.m. on Tuesday, and many more hopped in line the following morning. The photo above was shared just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Fun fact: The company spent nearly two years mapping out opening day logistics + it even purchased extra parking lots to handle customer overflow.
Shoutout to reader Mark H. who reached out with a tip: “Skip the In-N-Out lines for now and order animal style fries from Dino’s.” The East Nashville bar’s version comes with Velveeta, grilled onions, and a special sauce. Noted!
