A message from our team

We receive hundreds of thank-you emails every week, and often you ask how you can support us. If you’ve gotten something out of being subscribed to NASHtoday, like finding that life-changing concert in our Events section or using our City Guides to plan the perfect way to spend the day with family, we couldn’t be more honored to be a part of your life — and we’re calling on you now to help support our mission with a donation.

Are you raking in the leaves?

They don’t call it “fall” for nothing. Here’s what to do with all those leaves piling up.

Metro collects yard waste — brush, leaves, and grass clippings — four times a year for single-family homes in the Urban and General Services Districts. The city divides pickups into 12 routes, and collection can take one to three weeks once your route begins. Use the Nashville Waste Wizard to find your area’s next pickup date.

The main rules

  • Place leaves in biodegradable paper bags only.
  • Set brush piles at the curb so the truck’s arm can reach them.
  • Keep yard waste away from mailboxes, trees, and utility poles.
  • Avoid mixing in lumber, trash, or oversized branches.
Residents needing a drop-off option can take yard waste to Living Earth’s Elm Hill Pike or Centennial Boulevard locations.

Mailbag

Yesterday, we asked for your northern lights photos.

Stop throwing out your old denim. Recycle it through Cotton’s Blue Jeans Go Green™ program instead.

It’s simple: Find a participating retailer near you, drop off your well-loved denim (for free), and become a part of this green initiative.

How will your jeans be recycled? Blue Jeans Go Green™ will transform them into insulation for houses, pet beds, food packaging, and more.

News Notes

Eat

Fast-casual salad chain Sweetgreen appears to be expanding to Nashville, according to Metro records. The new eatery is set to operate in the Gulch space formerly occupied by Upbeet, though there’s no word yet on the opening date. (Nashville Business Journal)

Coming Soon

Sylvan Park will be home to Antoinette’s Wine Social next spring. Founder Lauren Maranto is turning a 1930s home into a wine bar offering shared plates, a variety of beverages, and a fenced-in green space with picnic tables and a stage. The retail side will stock bottles and snacks.

Announced

Major League Soccer will shift to a summer-to-spring season in 2027 to be aligned with major international leagues. Nashville SC’s first season under the format is expected to run from July 2027 to the following spring with a midwinter break. MLS will stage a transition season from February to May 2027 featuring a 14-game regular season, playoffs + MLS Cup.

Open

Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott is still under construction in 12 South, but in the meantime, a holiday pop-up is open at 116 17th Ave. S. through Wednesday, Dec. 24. The space features jewelry, antique furnishings, and Western-inspired items.

Surefire Coffee Co. is bringing its lattes to Broadway soon. And it’s not the only coffee shop brewing up a new location — Silver Fox Coffee Lounge is expanding to Brentwood’s CityPark development sometime in January.

Music City’s bagel scene is expanding, with new shops opening and a national brand joining the mix. Here are the latest bite-sized updates:

Ugly Bagel

In addition to the Arcade location, the shop’s new Franklin outpost opens on Sunday, Nov. 23 with free bagels for the first 50 customers. Expect a fully customizable menu of hand-rolled bagels and limited-edition flavors.

All or Nothing Bagels

Find sourdough wood-fired bagels at All or Nothing’s brand new brick-and-mortar shop at 2109 Buchanan St. For now, the spot will be open from 7 a.m. until sold out Friday through Sunday.
Get ready to “grip, rip, and dip.” That’s how viral bagel brand PopUp Bagels suggests enjoying its bagels. A Nashville location is in the works at Gulch Crossing.

We love spotlighting Nashville’s food scene. If you enjoy keeping up with local foodie news, support NASHtoday’s hyper-local mission with a monetary contribution.

The Buy

As temperatures continue to fall, we’re leaning into our cold-weather essentials. Here are three we absolutely swear by:

👖 Really good fleece-lined leggings with pockets. The thermal lining delivers extra warmth without compromising on stretch and breathability.
🛌 A top-rated long sleeve pj set for maximum comfort and coziness during fall and winter nights.
✋ A pair of rechargeable handwarmers with three temperature settings and up to 36 hours of battery life. Bonus: They include a portable charging case for power on the go.
