Editor Dylan here. I was hoping someone would capture the northern lights over the Parthenon this week, and thanks to @monkeytrent, we all get to take in the view.
While it’s unlikely we’ll see another burst of activity from the geomagnetic storm this week, here’s a quick guide on how to photograph the northern lights on your phone if we’re lucky enough to catch them again in the future.

When you subscribed to NASHtoday, you may have answered our “What’s your favorite restaurant?” question — and yes, we read every single response. We’ve seen shoutouts for eateries all over Nashville, but one spot pops up more than any other: Margot Cafe & Bar.
Just last month, Lisa S. wrote in: “Margot, and it’s not even close. I take all my friends and family visiting from out of town.”
It’s a favorite for a reason, but in seven months, Margot will serve its final meal. Chef-owner Margot McCormack announced yesterday that she’ll close the East Nashville restaurant after service on June 5, 2026. In a message to the community, McCormack reflected on the restaurant’s 25-year run and said she’s ready for “a new chapter” — one that, fittingly, “begins with dinner at home.”

As a fan of pretty lights in general, I ran outside the second I heard the northern lights were visible on Tuesday night. This was the best I could do from my little corner of Nashville, and I can’t wait to see what they looked like from your view. Feel free to reply to this email with your photos.
