News Notes

Today Is

Today is the autumnal equinox, which means fall will officially arrive at 2:19 p.m. The leaves may still be green for now, but when you’re ready to look for changing colors, we recommend hitting a local trail.

Development

A new video rendering shows off Bridgestone Arena’s sweeping renovation plans — from the proposed 60,000-sqft rooftop bar to open-air concourses — as the project’s price tag increased to $750 million. For more on the upgrades, timeline, and funding, look back at the project details. (The Tennessean)

Mansion Monday

Perched high in Green Hills, this 9,723-sqft new construction home was designed to impress. A grand two-story foyer leads to a quartzite-clad kitchen and a main-level suite with spa-inspired bath features, while the pool, sauna, and outdoor kitchen complete the home’s resort-style amenities.

Plan Ahead

Surprise… Taylor Swift will be back on the big screen for the release of her upcoming album out Friday, Oct. 3. “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” screens Oct. 3-5 at AMC, Regal, and the Belcourt Theatre with behind-the-scenes footage and the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia.” (Variety)

Show

In other music news, Sabrina Carpenter will make her Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The two-time Grammy winner released her seventh album, “Man’s Best Friend,” last month and will return to Nashville for a concert at Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 5.

List

Several barbecue spots in Tennessee landed on Southern Living’s ranking of the “Top 50 BBQ Joints in the South,” including Nashville’s own Peg Leg Porker. The restaurant came in at No. 32 and was lauded for its Memphis-style dry rub and pulled-pork sandwiches topped with slaw.

Family

$8,912. That’s how much a family of four can expect to spend on average for a seven-night trip to Walt Disney World, including meals, park tickets, and overnight accommodations on property. Vacation not in the cards this year? Free family fun awaits with these Music City activities. (NerdWallet)

The Wrap

Crisp, cool air would be the perfect way to welcome the first day of fall, but that’s not in the forecast this year. With highs in the low- to mid-80s this week, I’ll be ordering my coffee iced. Now if I could just decide which seasonal sip I want to try next...
