Hey y’all, it’s your fave newsletter team here, feeling as ritzy as Gatsby after an evening at Marquee Nashville, Woolworth Theatre’s brand-new cocktail lounge.
The cinematic space sets the stage for a different kind of night out in Nashville: Honky Tonkin’ gives way to Hollywood glam. The Marquee Big Band replaces country tunes.
It’s a sophisticated experience in a cozy + intimate postmodern setting, and we were loving every minute of it.
You don’t need show tickets to visit Marquee, but it certainly added to our evening enjoyment. (Readers can use code “NASHTODAY” for 15% off Shiners tickets. Heads up: Shiners is 18+ only — expect a few risqué moments.)
When we returned to the lounge area, the Marquee Big Band was already in full swing, and the atmosphere was electric. Folks swung ‘round the dance floor while we watched and sipped from our plush couch.
The food was, in a word, sublime. Mouthwatering short rib and pork chop paired perfectly with our vintage-inspired cocktails, and when we finally left late into the evening, we were already planning our next visit (book your own reservation here).
CA South is preparing to break ground soon on a seven-story condo building rising along 8th Avenue South near W.O. Smith Music School. The 131-unit project will allow short-term rentals and feature amenities like a coffee shop and pickleball court. (Nashville Post)
Opening
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream will begin scooping in Germantown’s Neuhoff District on Thursday, Aug. 28. To celebrate, the NYC-based brand teamed up with Tailor for a Sicilian pistachio sundae topped with chef Vivek Surti’s nankhatai cookie. Expect $1 scoops from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on opening day. Real Estate
Nashville ranks No. 3 among US metros leading the nation in new home construction, according to a Realtor.com report. New builds make up 37% of local listings, with a median listing price of $540,686. Music City is only behind Fayetteville, AR and Boise, ID.
Plan Ahead
NASCAR fans, the countdown is on. Nashville Superspeedway will once again host a triple-header weekend (May 29-31) headlined by the Cracker Barrel 400. Tickets are on sale now if you want to lock in your spot at the track.
Arts
The Frist Art Museum unveiled its 2026 exhibition lineup ahead of its 25th anniversary. A couple highlights include “The Impressionist Revolution” featuring works by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Henri Matisse and a free installation tracing the building’s former life as Nashville’s main post office.

Is this the largest cup of coffee in Tennessee? JOS Fifteen Coffee in Antioch is serving a “mega coffee” — a giant mug holding five to six servings — alongside an equally oversized concha pastry. You may need to gather the friend group for this one.
