The Grand Ole Opry isn’t the only Nashville institution marking a century this year. The Belcourt Theatre turns 100 in June, and it’s kicking things off with a deep dive into how the city has appeared on screen.
“Nashville: A City On Film” opens with Robert Altman’s “Nashville,” and actor Keith Carradine — who starred in the film and won an Academy Award for Best Original Song — will appear at the Belcourt on Sunday, June 1.
“Nashville” | Opryland, Exit/In, The Parthenon, and Nashville International Airport (then Berry Field)
“The Thing Called Love” | Green Hills, Drake Motel, and the then Shelby Street Bridge (the Bluebird Cafe, although featured prominently, was recreated in Los Angeles)
The Belcourt plans to add to the series, so consider this just the opening act. In fact, perhaps some of these Nashville-shot titles will make the cut next time.
