Whether you’re in a creative rut or just looking for a fun way to spend an evening, Nashville is chock-full of talented artists and designers hosting arts and craft classes that will put those idle hours to use.

The best part? No experience is necessary for many classes. Just sign up, show up, and glow up your crafty repertoire.

Turnip Green Creative Reuse, 1014 3rd Ave. S.
Not only can you shop sustainably at TGCR, Nashville’s nonprofit reuse center hosts studio workshops that utilize upcycled materials.

Metro Parks Visual Arts, Locations vary
This Metro program facilitates painting and pottery classes at Centennial Art Center and other places around town. Pro tip: Classes are typically offered in three different sessions (fall, winter/spring, and summer) and fill up quickly.

Hoamsy, Locations vary
Hoamsy is like Etsy, but instead of buying products, participants sign up for in-person experiences around Nashville. Join local creators at various venues — businesses, breweries, and sometimes their homes — for activities such as painting, fabric arts, and jewelry making.

The Forge, 217 Willow St.
This multi-use venue offers wood and metal shops, artist studios, a makerspace with professional tools, and more. For guided experiences, the nonprofit art organization hosts hands-on workshops focused on welding, painting, digital design, and many other mediums.

Humming the “Ghostbusters” theme right now? Just like the Ghostbusters swoop in to tackle the unexplained happenings around town, hubNashville is the central resource for residents to report non-emergency issues big and small.

Whether it’s a missed trash pickup, a park maintenance request, or a malfunctioning traffic light, submit a report online, through the hubNashville 311 app, or by calling 311. The platform also provides general city information, such as weekly road closures and library hours.

This month marks seven years since its launch, with over 1.6 million requests submitted since 2017. Here are some key stats:
  • 24,875 pothole requests
  • 15,559 snow and ice removal requests
  • 3,842 traffic light timing requests
  • 2,225 storm debris removal requests
  • 2,722 Hands On Nashville volunteer tornado damage assessment requests (after the March 2020 tornado)
