To go or not to go... is that even a question? The 36th annual Summer Shakespeare is back — Thursdays through Sundays from Aug. 29 to Sept. 22 at The Yard at oneC1TY (plus, Monday, Sept. 2 for Labor Day).

This year’s production is sure to bring the crowd, so here are our pro tips for making the most of your experience.

Overarching concept

Director Cammy Harris’ interpretation of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy “As You Like It” will follow “a group of musicians, poets, and other colorful characters as they compose the world they want to live in and create a brand new sound along the way.”

Beyond the production

Vendors open and the Insight Lecture Series starts on the terrace at 5:30 p.m. Secure your snacks + drinks from the food trucks and then find your seat.

Pre-show entertainment, beginning with Inversion Vocal Ensemble on Aug. 29, kicks off at 6 p.m. each evening and features local and regional talent before the play at 7 p.m. See the full lineup.

How to watch

  • Free: Bring your own blanket or chair (a $10 donation is suggested).
  • $40: A Noble Seat is a reserved chair in the second or third row.
  • $100: The VIP Royal Package includes reserved parking, a gourmet picnic dinner, and seating in the first or second row.
Pro tip: oneC1TY offers free parking in the underground garage beneath Pastaria and Sump Coffee — this is where VIP Royal Package ticket holders will also go. We asked which Nashville meals or restaurants bring you nostalgia — and here’s what you said:

Thanks to Google Street View, we can step back in time just a bit. | Screenshot via Google Street View
Many of these dishes are served with a side of tears because our readers mainly reminisced on restaurants of Nashville’s past. Two common responses were Rotier’s burgers and steak and biscuits from Ireland’s. In fact, one anonymous reader said, “I’ve not been able to find anything since that has the same taste [as Ireland’s steak and biscuits].” A few other gone (but not forgotten) mentions went to...
  • “A late night Mirror Plate (dessert sampler) at the Sunset Grill” — Michael M.
  • “Couser’s Southern Restaurant [for] good home cooking like my grandmother made” — Margaret P.
  • “The sliders at No. 308!! Anything at Zavos (now where Cafe Roze is), and PM had the best Thai wrap.” — Lindsay
As for the gems that are still around? The Loveless Cafe, Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria, and International Market all got shoutouts.
