Nashville netted the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament for a 12th year, which calls for a Party in the Park.

Whether you’re watching all of the action at Bridgestone Arena March 13-17, or you want to support from the sidelines, a free fan activation at Music City Walk of Fame Park will get you in the spirit.

Events begin at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15 + Saturday, March 16 with live music, food trucks, family-friendly activities, and a video screen to watch the games.

Here’s what to know before you go to guarantee a slam dunk experience:

Tune in

Singer-songwriter Phil Vassar known for hits “Last Day of My Life” and “I’m Alright” will headline with a performance at 6 p.m. on Saturday. DJ Jason Eskridge and DJ Coach will take center stage at various times between games. Review the lineup featuring Les Kerr & The Bayou Band, The Magi, and more.

Fill up

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, pay a visit to the Daddy’s Dogs kiosk or on-site food trucks — Chick-fil-A, Pie Town Tacos, and The Tennessee Cobbler Co. You’ll find alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at The Fieldhouse Bar.

Development
  • In-N-Out is making its Middle Tennessee mark once again. The burger chain is eyeing a fourth area eatery in Lebanon. Plans call for a 3,885-sqft restaurant at the corner of South Hartmann Drive and Franklin Road. The news follows location announcements in Goodlettsville, Antioch, and Franklin.   • If our pizza bracket has you craving a slice of pie — try this new spot. The owners behind Sal’s Family Pizza and Salvo’s Pizza have brought Taste of NY downtown at 530 Church St. Stop in for for hand-tossed, New York-style pizza created with made-in-house ingredients.

  • In other foodie news, Hermitage’s Tutti Da Gio has plans to expand to Hendersonville. The Italian food spot hopes to open in Half Batch Brewing’s former home at 393 E. Main St. by late May or June. Did you know? The small but mighty eatery is ranked No. 31 nationwide on Yelp. (The Tennessean)

  • A new take-what-you-need food pantry has popped up at the Nashville Farmers Market. Find non-perishable food, pantry, and personal hygiene items in the clock on one side of the shed. Help fill up the inside by donating the products on the project’s Amazon wishlist.

  • Bookmark Monday, June 24 for Nashville Public Library’s grand opening of its new Donelson branch. The over 24,000 sqft, LEED Gold-certified building will offer three program spaces, six study rooms, a Metro Arts Lending Library collection, and a mobile kitchen for cooking classes and demonstrations.
Travel
  • Semi-private jet service JSX has paused Nashville flights until further notice. The company launched in June offering travel to Dallas and New York. Officials noted a “re-allocation of resources” as a reasoning behind the decision. There is no timeline on when JSX will begin operations locally again. (Nashville Business Journal)
Theater
  • TPAC pulled back the curtain to reveal two new Broadway specials for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Chicago (Jan. 28-Feb. 2) and Hadestown (March 7-9) will take the stage as add-on presentations. Season ticket holders can renew seats by March 17 and new season tickets go on sale in April.
Concert
  • Kid Cudi brings his “Insano” tour to Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, July 3 with special guests Pusha T and EARTHGANG. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 15 at 10 a.m.

... and no, we’re not talking about what’s happening on the court. Beginning Friday, March 8, the Nashville Zoo extends its daily hours (9 a.m.-6 p.m.), also marking the return of a slew of zoo features.

What’s coming

  • Daily Wild Works Animal Shows are back (with the exception of Tuesdays) at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Grassmere Historic Home tours also resume.
  • Lorikeet Landing will reopen (when it’s sunny and above 55°).
Pro tip: Bookmark the “Today at the Zoo” tab for the March Keeper Talk schedule.

What to know

  • Screaming Gibbon Pizza Kitchen and Quills Cafe & Grille launched new menus.
  • The “Know Before You Go” tab will tell you which features are unavailable before your visit. For a chunk of time, giraffes will not be visible as the zoo works on the new Leopard Forest habitat. The rope bridge at Spider Monkey is also closed for renovation.
