Eating meat-free hasn’t always been easy, but in Nashville, it’s a piece of (vegan) cake.

Our local food scene is as vibrant as ever, so it’s no surprise there are a slew of local chefs serving up fresh, vegetarian bites across town. From vegan barbecue to scrumptious vegan tacos, here are 27 businesses offering meat-free fare in Music City.

Date night

Blue Sushi Sake Grill, 5036 Broadway #220 | Order vegan sushi rolls like the Vegan Hot Popper (vegan smoked salmon, cream cheese, jalapeno tempura, and sriracha).

AVO, 4 City Blvd. #104 | In addition to vegan eats, peruse the extensive cocktail and non-alcoholic drink menu. Pro tip: Visit during happy hour (Tuesday-Friday, 4:30-6 p.m.) for nachos, fried cauliflower, and $2 off wine and drafts.

Comfort food

Trippy’s Plant Based Diner, 811-H Dickerson Pk. | Trippy’s serves a full menu of veggie burgers, chik’n sandwiches, and loaded fries, plus daily specials posted to the food truck’s Instagram. Some recents include burger crunchwraps, chik’n wraps, and brownie cheesecake.

Hey Hey, locations vary | This isn’t your average ghost kitchen — order “egg” rolls, noodle bowls, and sweet and spicy cauliflower wings via Uber Eats. Pro tip: Hey Hey is available for takeout and dine-in at AVO each evening Thursday through Saturday.

Delicious desserts

Gluten Free Goose, 6601 Sugar Valley Dr. | The gluten-free bakery is not exclusively plant-based, but vegan cookies and cupcakes make regular menu appearances.

The Cupcake Collection, locations vary | The cupcake shop offers a wide assortment of vegan cupcake flavors, among them chocolate, sweet potato, wedding cake, and more.

Plant-based pantry

oneShop Nashville, 3 City Ave. #800 | This community market stocks many local and some national brands specializing in vegan goods. Order vegan cheese from Darë Vegan Cheese, cinnamon rolls from Boho Wildflower Vegan, and other plant-based offerings based on availability.

Dry Guys Pantry Supply | Order pantry staples like seasonings (cheese, Italian blend, and “wranch”) and cake mix. Plus, take your reusable containers to the company’s pop-up residency at The Good Fill in the Nations — Saturday’s from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all winter long.

Last week, countless Nashville restaurants, retail shops, and attractions closed or operated under limited hours for the safety of staff members and patrons.

With the snow behind us, Nashvillians are encouraging one another to show up for local businesses this week. In the spirit of doing our small part, we want to know the places you’ll be dining, shopping, and supporting via this survey, and we’ll share some of the responses in tomorrow’s newsletter.

Here are a few ideas to spread the local love:
