The sport that mixes elements of tennis, ping pong, and badminton has gained popularity over the years, and today is a celebration of it all: National Pickleball Day.
If you play pickleball locally, this stat may not surprise you: Nashville ranked No. 59 in the US for number of pickleball courts per capita. The demand for courts is outpacing the supply, but that’s not slowing down Music City’s pickleball scene.

This social club celebrates all things pickleball in Middle Tennessee and hosts club play, clinics, and more at TOA Sports Performance Center in Franklin.

Local courts
Whether you’re new to the game or haven’t played in awhile, brush up on the rules and find a local court.
Centennial Sportsplex Tennis Center, 224 25th Ave. N.
The athletic complex’s eight outdoor tennis courts double as pickleball courts. Bookmark the calendar for open play hours ($10 for nonmembers) and Intro to Pickleball classes ($40).
Metro Parks and Recreation, Various locations
Metro offers indoor and outdoor pickleball play at 15+ parks and regional centers, though some places require you to bring your own net.
Lipscomb Racquet Club, 4112 Belmont Blvd.
Daily open play for $15/person per time slot. On weekdays, play as early as 6:15 a.m. and as late as 10:15 p.m.

The Nashville Symphony announced three new shows — musical celebrations of the late Tina Turner (Oct. 17) and John Denver (Nov. 28) + two nights with legendary Motown artist Smokey Robinson (June 20-21, 2024). Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Slim & Husky’s is expanding again, this time to Belmont University’s campus. The local pizzeria will officially open on Tuesday, Aug. 22 with its lineup of pizza and cinnamon rolls, as well as two new menu items: roasted chicken wings and breakfast flats.

Titans football is rolling ‘round the bend. WeGo Star will once again transport fans to all home games, beginning with the preseason game against the Patriots on Friday, Aug. 25. Roundtrip tickets for Titans Express rides are on sale now.
Drink
Cheers to four years. East Nashville’s Living Waters Brewing is hosting an anniversary celebration Aug. 18-20. The coffee shop and brewery will have drink deals, special releases, food pop-ups, live music, and more. (Nashville Scene)

Luis Miguel is bringing his world tour to Nashville next summer. Tickets for the June 14 show at Bridgestone Arena go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
