Wilson County Fair - Tennessee State Fair 2023: What to know before you go

Just like the Ferris wheel lines, The Tennessee State Fair stretches wayyyyy back (more than a century), long before consolidating with the Wilson County Fair in 2021. Ride along with us as we break down the need-to-knows ahead of this wheely exciting tradition beginning Aug. 17 through Aug. 26.
Hours, tickets, parking
Open daily: Monday-Friday beginning at 5 p.m., Saturdays at 10 a.m., and Sundays at 12 p.m.
Tickets are available in-person and online with admission costs ranging from $6-$12 — children ages five and under get in free.
Parking is available on and off-site — preferred parking is $10, otherwise, on-site spots are free. The fair shuttle provides rides to and from three off-site locations.
Pro tip: Season tickets ($45) provide fair access all 10 days and mega tickets ($30) includeadmission and a ride armband. Opening day deals include half-price admission and $1 rides.

Swiss cookware brand Kuhn Rikon will open its first US storefront in Antioch’s forthcoming Tanger Outlets on Thursday, Oct. 26. The 1,938-sqft store will sell a line of pressure cookers, cutlery, kitchen tools, and more + host product demonstrations.

Wheels up. Spirit Airlines will offer nonstop routes from Nashville to Boston six times weekly and to Miami four times weekly beginning Thursday, Sept. 7. (Nashville Post)

Nashville has snagged two spots on Southern Living’s list of 30 “most legendary steakhouses” in the South. Ringing in at No. 5 is a Belle Meade staple, Sperry’s Restaurant. Midtown’s Jimmy Kelly’s Steakhouse also rounded out the rankings at No. 30.
Eat
The Hermitage Hotel’s The Pink Hermit launched a new Italian-inspired menu featuring wood-fired pizza, six types of bruschetta, pastries, and JVG Request coffee. Guests can also pair dishes with Italian wine and cocktails like an Aperol spritz and a pink daiquiri. (WZTV)

Take a trip down the rabbit hole. Mad Hatter Gin & Tea Party is popping up on the top floor of Midtown’s Love Language (911 20th Ave. S.) with limited reservations available. A $55 ticket includes entry and four themed cocktails.

Vanderbilt opens SEC’s first sensory rooms

Vanderbilt University partnered with global nonprofit KultureCity to open sensory rooms in Memorial Gymnasium and FirstBank Stadium for fans with sensory processing needs, including but not limited to autism, PTSD, and chronic pain.
The rooms will feature bean bags, light-up and bubble walls, activity panels, and custom art. Sensory bags filled with noise canceling headphones, verbal cue cards and a feeling thermometer, fidget tools, and weighted lap pads will also be available.
Memorial Gym’s sensory room can be found next to Vanderbilt Bookstore in the lobby of the Northeast Entrance, and the sensory room at FirstBank Stadium is located by Section P in the east concourse first aid room. Fans are encouraged to download the KultureCity app to review what features are available and how to access them.
Marc Jacobs will open in the Mall at Green Hills’ upper level by Nordstrom this fall. The fashion retailer is known for its bags, accessories, jewelry, shoes, fragrances, and ready-to-wear collections.
