The Nashville Predators officially named Andrew Brunette as head coach, replacing John Hynes. Brunette, the fourth head coach in franchise history, is a former Preds player and scored the team’s first-ever goal on Oct. 13, 1998.
Sports
Hey, UT fans. The Tennessee Vols’ season opener against the Virginia Cavaliers will kick off at 11 a.m. CT at Nissan Stadium. Tickets for the Saturday, Sept. 2 game are on sale and start at $60.
The 26th annual TransPerfect Music City Bowl returns to Nissan Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 30. This year’s showdown, played between SEC and Big Ten teams, will kick off at 1 p.m. and air on ABC. Stay tuned for ticket info.
Concert
Carrie Underwood will join Guns N’ Roses on three tour dates this summer, including at GEODIS Park on Saturday, Aug. 26. Underwood has joined the band onstage numerous times, like at Stagecoach in 2022 to perform “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Paradise City.” Tickets are on sale.
Cause
All-day café Two Hands will host a fundraiser for the Covenant community on Monday, June 26 from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. Tickets are $65 and include passed appetizers + a welcome glass of prosecco. A portion of all ticket sales and 10% of additional food sales will be donated.

Vanderbilt University released renderings for major updates at Hawkins Field. Some of the enhancements include a new 20,000-sqft multi-purpose building and seating atop the left field wall. In case you missed it, Vanderbilt baseball has earned the No. 6 overall seed in the 2023 NCAA tournament.

A 1% increase in Davidson County’s hotel occupancy tax goes into effect Saturday, July 1. The occupancy tax was raised from 6% to 7% for the construction of and future capital improvements to the enclosed stadium.
