Living in Nashville is a grand time, but that doesn’t mean we’re immune to parking woes, long lines, and other hassles.

  • Swiss watch retailer IWC Schaffhausen, known for using environmentally sustainable metals extraction and manufacturing processes, is slated to open at The Mall at Green Hills this fall. The company will take the space last home to Brooks Brothers. (Nashville Post)

  • Picture pawfect. Downtown’s new Alcove Dog Park is getting a fresh coat of paint in the form of a mural by The London Police. The design nods to eight dogs that belonged to team members who helped reimagine the dog park. You can watch the artists work through Friday, March 31. (WZTV)

  • K-pop group MAMAMOO will bring their “MY CON” world tour to Bridgestone Arena on Monday, May 22. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29.

  • Nominations are open for this year’s NEXT Awards via the Nashville Entrepreneur Center — a celebration of businesses and founders scaling their craft. Review qualifications and cast your vote before the awards show on Monday, October 23.

Earth Day is Monday, April 22, but Music City is getting an early start. The Nashville Earth Day festival returns to Centennial Park on Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It’s family-friendly

The event also includes live music at the Bandshell, local eats, and Kidsville programs for all ages. Here are a few activities to make note of:
  • Small World Yoga will offer a complimentary 45-minute class from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in front of the event stage.
  • Go on an electric car ride-along (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) at the EV Car Show.
  • Kidsville: Expect activities like a nature sculpture area, passport sketchbook, and storybook walk — plus, the Kidsville Earth Day Parade at 3:45 p.m.
  • Other activations include puppet shows (12:15 + 3 p.m.), a Reuse Village to make crafts out of recycled materials, and an Earth Day Pub for festival-goers age 21 and older.
Bonus: Nashville Tree Foundation will distribute 850 free trees while supplies last.

It’s educational

Home composting, sustainable cooking, gardening, and recycling are just a few topics you can learn about at the EarthTalks Tent, which will feature a lineup of local experts every ~30 minutes. The educational opportunities don’t stop there — visit with 75+ vendors and exhibitors, including nonprofits, sustainable businesses, and government agencies.

Getting there

Consider riding your bike for an eco-friendly travel choice and take advantage of Walk Bike Nashville’s free bike valet parking. For those opting for public transit, utilize WeGo’s trip planner to find the best route. Onsite parking is free, but may be limited.
