On your mark, get set, go… to the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series. The one-of-a-kind music and fitness event comes racing back to Nashville next month — Thursday, April 20 through Sunday, April 23.
Participants will be serenaded by 25+ bands as they travel through Music Row, 12 South, and other neighborhoods. Plus, enjoy a post-race concert headlined by Runaway June. Whether you’re hitting the pavement, cheering from the sidelines, or planning to be out in the city, here’s how to be race weekend ready.
Event timeline
The running series includes six courses — a marathon, half marathon, 10k (aka the 6.15 race), 5k, and individual 1-mile courses for adults and children — plus, a half-mile Doggie Dash. Pick up race packets at the Health & Fitness Expo on Thursday (12-7 p.m.) and Friday (10 a.m.-7 p.m.).

Friday, April 21 | Health & Fitness Expo and the St. Jude Heroes Pasta Party (open to those running for the benefiting charity)
Saturday, April 22 | 5k and 10k at 6:30 a.m. (8th Avenue and Demonbreun Street) and the marathon and half marathon at 7:20 a.m. (8th Avenue and Broadway)
Sunday, April 23 | KiDS Rock, 1-mile adult, and Doggie Dash races (Nissan Stadium)

Road closures
Most streets along the race courses will close at 5:45 a.m. and reopen on a rolling basis. Some roads surrounding Nissan Stadium will be closed all four days. See the full list of road closures and times + no parking zones.
Registration
Online registration closes on Sunday, April 16. All participants must visit the expo to pick up their race number, gear bag, and t-shirt. Registration prices vary from $25 to $139 depending on the course, but prices may increase at any time.

National Weather Service Nashville is launching another round of Weather 101 classes. The free virtual training is open to all ages and covers flash flooding, satellites, and other topics. Classes run from Thursday, March 23 to Tuesday, May 16 — register in advance.
Development
A stretch of land bordering GEODIS Park is being eyed for redevelopment. MarketStreet Enterprises filed plans for a ~4-acre mixed-use district at 511 Benton Ave. The project could also incorporate public parking, bike lanes, and area road improvements. (Nashville Business Journal)

Raising Cane’s Smyrna location — 380 Sam Ridley Pkwy. W. — opens on Thursday, March 23. Grand opening festivities include the chance to win Raising Cane’s for a year. Work on the Broadway and White Bridge Pike locations is still underway.
Coming Soon
Chef Deb Paquette’s restaurant Etch is expanding to the Factory at Franklin later this year. The second location will span 5,000 sqft and feature indoor and outdoor seating. Paquette opened Etch’s original eatery on Demonbreun Street in August 2012. (Nashville Business Journal)

Goo Goo Cluster teamed up with Elliston Place Soda Shop for a new premium flavor inspired by the restaurant’s chocolate cherry malt. Find the premium Goo Goo at Elliston Place Soda Shop beginning Monday, April 3 (while supplies last) and at Goo Goo Chocolate Co. in April and May.
Concert
Alternative rock group 3 Doors Down, known for 2000s hits “Kryptonite” and “Here Without You,” is coming to Ascend Amphitheater this summer. The band’s “Away From The Sun” anniversary tour stop is set for Friday, August 18. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Each February, local architecture firm Manuel Zeitlin Architects (MZA) hosts a team challenge to write, perform, and record a full-length album. All proceeds from the team’s seventh album, titled “Super Deluxe,” will be matched by the firm and donated to this year’s recipient, Daybreak Arts.
