Itâs hard to miss all the construction projects popping up around the city. In case you skimmed over some of this groundbreaking news, hereâs a quick recap of 11 developments on track to be completed this year.

Developers broke ground on the six-building, 290,000-sqft outlet shopping center last spring. The open-air mall, which could be completed as soon as fall 2023, is expected to include retailers like Nike, Leviâs, and Ralph Lauren, though the official directory has not been released. Nearby Century Farm developments include apartment complexes, medical buildings, and a Nashville SC training facility.
The $1.5 billion BNA Vision plan, which launched in 2017, is nearing completion with the reveal of the new Grand Lobbythis month + the opening of a satellite concourse, the new International Arrivals Facility, and an on-site hotel later in the year. The airportâs next sweeping plan, the $1.4 billion BNA New Horizon, is already underway with a scheduled completion in late 2028.
Mixed-use

Vanderbilt Universityâs housing community for graduate and professional students is slated for a late summer or fall completion with a public courtyard, a fitnessâŻcenter,âŻand a collaborative workspace. The developmentâs retail component will house at least two locally-based retailers â grocery store The Turnip Truck and coffee shop 8th & Roast.
The forthcoming music venue â formerly home to Mercy Lounge, Cannery Ballroom, and The High Watt â will feature a familiar setup: three stages and a top floor event space. Other upgrades include new food and beverage options, an updated backstage area, new lighting and sound systems, and improved sightlines.

The new park in Southeast Nashville will be anchored by Nashvilleâs âlargest destination playgroundâ and an expansive event lawn for community performances and festivals. Additional features include a fitness equipment and trail loop, courts, picnic shelters, restrooms, parking, and grassland meadows. The first construction phase kicked off in May 2021 and is nearing completion.

Nashville-based developer SomeraRoad plans to purchase the building formerly home to Arnoldâs Country Kitchen, which closed over the weekend. Of note, SomeraRoadâs Paseo South Gulch development is under construction across the street. (Nashville Post)

The Tennessee Titans announced the firings of four assistant coaches â offensive coordinator Todd Downing, offensive line coach Keith Carter, secondary coach Anthony Midget, and offensive skill assistant Erik Frazier. Head Coach Mike Vrabel will lead the search for their replacements.
Travel
The results are in. Last month, TDOT hosted a naming contest for snowplows in four regions of the state. Look out for Brinestone Plowboy in the Nashville area, as well as Snowlene in Knoxville, Big Leplowski in Chattanooga, and Sleetwood Mac in Memphis.

Turnip Green Creative Reuse will host two sidewalk sales as it prepares to open its new reuse center at 1014 3rd Ave. S. Plan Ahead
Cheekwoodâs annual Orchids in the Mansion exhibit will return to the estate and gardens for a fifth year on Saturday, Jan. 28, and remain on display through Sunday, March 5. The exhibit will be accompanied by guided tours, workshops, and piano performances on select dates.

Comedians Henry Cho and Gary Mule Deer were each invited to become Grand Ole Opry members. Longtime Opry member Marty Stuart surprised the two during a Facebook Live interview last weekend. Cho and Mule Deer will become the first comedians inducted in nearly 50 years. (Music Row Magazine)
