A new sports bar has entered the chat. Almost Friday Sporting Club opened over the weekend the corner of 4th Avenue and Peabody Street. If the name sounds familiar, there’s a reason why. Here’s what to know about this off-Broadway gathering place.

The concept

This is the first physical bar and restaurant concept by Almost Friday Media, the team behind popular Instagram accounts @friday.beers and @almost.friday.

The brand — which has a combined ~2 million following across its accounts — translated its online presence into a brick-and-mortar space with an indoor-outdoor bar, a dance floor, a gaming area (think: board games, arcade games + a beer pong table), and a VIP room.

The menu

The sporting club features several menus — game night, game day, brunch, and beverage — with specialty items like the “brunchiladas” (chicken, jack cheese, pico, avocado, and egg); a boozy spin on juicebox drinks with “capri funs,” a frozen “fratpuccino” (vodka, cold brew, cacao, and simple syrup), and a chicken tender tower with three tiers of tenders, sweet potato tots, fries, corn dogs, and dipping sauces.

Patio and dining room reservations can be made through Resy + the bar seating is first-come, first-served.

The vibes

The 5,500-sqft space seats up to 155 guests and is filled with pop culture decor, sports jerseys + inside jokes that the brand’s social media following will understand.

Another unique feature is Almost Friday’s partnership with sports betting platform BetMGM, which allows guests to register to place sports bets through a special link provided by Almost Friday Sporting Club.

  • Nashville could be getting multiple Project ECHO hotels from Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. The hotel company, which has 100 new ECHO properties in the works, plans to announce the first Nashville-area location next year. 🛎️ (Nashville Post)

  • Apartment community Seven at 7 Mile Creek is now open in South Nashville at 4040 Travis Dr. The three-story property features 129 studio and one-bedroom units + a common area with a Tennessee Titans-themed lounge and a rooftop terrace. (Nashville Post)

  • Anzie Blue’s Chef Star Maye will host a series of cooking classes in October and November. The theme is “The Great Southern Thanksgiving” + each class will highlight 1-2 dishes (think: candied sweet potatoes and rosemary roasted chicken). Each $50 ticket includes one free cocktail and light bites.
Civic
  • NDOT announced plans to install 35 e-bike racks south and west of downtown as part of a pilot program. The racks will be operational within the “next few weeks” and hold up to 25 e-bikes each. Stay tuned for more info. 🚲 (WZTV)

  • All People Coffee is going mobile. The Cleveland Park coffee shop, which opened in late 2021 at 347 Douglas Ave., has debuted a new mobile trailer. Grab a cup of coffee at pop-ups around town or book it for a private event + keep up with its location via Instagram.

  • Nashville CARES is hosting its 31st annual Nashville AIDS Walk on Sat., Oct. 1 at Public Square Park. The event begins with the walk at 8 a.m., followed by a family fun day (9 a.m.-3 p.m.) with entertainment, face painting, and a bounce house. Fundraising + event registration is now open. 👟

  • MTSU increased the value and broadened eligibility of its True Blue Scholarship. The $14,000 scholarship (up from $8,000) will be available to first-time freshmen scoring 22-24 on the ACT with a 3.5 or higher high school GPA. The scholarship is guaranteed for prospective students who apply by Thurs., Dec. 1.

  • The Tennessee Titans defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 24-22 on Sunday, the team’s first victory this season. The Titans will be back at Nissan Stadium on Sun., Oct. 23 to take on the Indianapolis Colts.
  • Nashville SC is hosting Fan Appreciation Night on Sun., Oct. 2 at its last regular season home match. The match will have an interactive LED light show, draft beer specials, and live performances. The team will kick off against the Houston Dynamo at 7:30 p.m. ⚽
