Did you know a two-week-old aardvark is about the size of a rolling pin? The Nashville Zoo shared that fact while announcing the birth of its first aardvark calf. The calf was born at 6:06 a.m. on New Year’s Day, making it one of the first animals born at an AZA-accredited zoo this year.

The aardvark is the first for mother Karanga, who came to Nashville Zoo in 2021 from Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and father Winsol, who arrived in 2019 from Cincinnati Zoo.
