Editor’s Pick

🍎 It’s like school without the pop quizzes

Want to take a souffle class with David Andrews of D’Andrews Bakery or learn how to make pasta with the owners of Nicoletto’s? How about take a crash course in football fundamentals with two former NFL players or hear from a Nashvillian who went to space?

Those are just a few of the offerings in this year’s University School of Nashville Evening Classes program. Now in its 33rd year, the after-hours classes are open to ages 21 and up in most cases + vary in pricing. My pick? A dumpling workshop with Mama Yang and Daughter.

Some readers picked a specific dish, while others named a restaurant they trust every time — either way, these meals are still top of mind.

Dishes that made a lasting impression

  • Chuck R. picked the fried chicken at SS Gai
  • Christy S. highlighted the whipped Manchego at Lola
  • Denise R.’s Sperry’s lineup: filet Oscar, the salad bar with creamy garlic dressing, and bananas Foster to finish

Full menu favorites

  • Sam B. is a fan of Alebrije’s chicken mole enchiladas but adds, “there’s not a bad dish on the menu.”
  • Deb P. said “anything on the menu” at Perry’s
  • Cathy M. echoed that sentiment with “any meal” at Tailor
Up for a drive? Leslie T. enjoyed the brisket from Shaffer’s (Summertown), and Gold’s Deli (Columbia) got a stamp of approval from Joe C.
