According to new data from Google Trends, search interest in “cozy books” is at an all-time high, and searches for “fall romance books” have increased by more than 400%.
That gave us an idea. Grab your cozy, fall-themed read (we suggest stocking up at this weekend’s Southern Festival of Books) and head to one of the comfiest spots to turn pages in Nashville:
Settle in at Funny Library inside Virgin Hotels Nashville, where natural light + colorful decor make for an inviting spot to linger, or sink into the Graduate Hotel’s patterned couches with Poindexter coffee in hand.
When the leaves finally turn, head to Centennial Park to read under canopies of bright yellow leaves — just make note of the areas closed for construction.
Editor Dylan’s pick is Americano Lounge for its cozy nooks and late hours.
Smyrna native and Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey sold his Midtown condo for $3.75 million, placing it among Davidson County’s top 10 condo sales this year. The four-bedroom unit closed 40% above other recent sales in the building. (Realtor.com)
Ranked
BNA rose to the top in several USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards categories, including “Best Airport for Shopping” and “Best Airport Bar” for the Titans Press Box. It also ranked highly for “Best Large Airport,” “Best Grab-And-Go Food (400 Degrees Hot Chicken),” and “Best Airport for Art.”
Sports
Taylor Washington, Nashville SC’s longest-tenured player and the last remaining USL-era member, announced his retirement. He’ll be honored at tomorrow’s final regular season match against Inter Miami CF.
Drink
Barrique Brewing and Blending took home gold in the “Mixed-Culture Brett Beer” category at this year’s Great American Beer Festival. The winning brew, Keeping Beer, is a barrel-aged grisette dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin. In Hendersonville, Half Batch Brewing earned silver for its Achtbier beer.
Plan Ahead
Centennial Park Conservancy’s ECHO Chamber Music Series returns this winter with five reverb-rich performances inside the Parthenon. The lineup includes back-to-back performances by SONUS, as well as TSU’s Meistersingers, the Nashville Chamber Music Series, and Lockeland Strings. Tickets start at $25.
Active
Last night’s Thursday Night Football matchup was only the second game in NFL history to feature two quarterbacks over the age of 40. Maybe those professional athlete dreams are still alive. A local adult rec league could be your first stop en route to the Hall of Fame. (ESPN)
A few readers got specific with their picks. Arthur Smith and Mike McCarthy — both names floating around in national coaching speculation — appeared multiple times. Others looked to the past with a nod to former Titans HC Jeff Fisher, while a handful of fans threw in Nick Saban for good measure.
This award-winning leave-in conditioner and detangler. It instantly detangles, eliminates frizz, restores shine, and prevents breakage. Bonus: It’s cruelty-free and made with clean ingredients.
The fun doesn’t have to end here. After reading the newsletter, head over to our games page. Games refresh with new challenges every day at 6 a.m. from crossword puzzle to Sudoku to themed word search.
Heading to Light the Nations tomorrow, Oct. 18? Take a look at the vendor list beforehand so you can plan your stops. One of my favorite local small businesses, Candle with a Handle, will be there if you want to bring home a new scent in a repurposed cup.
