News Notes

Closing

Bearded Iris Brewing will close its Sylvan Park taproom after service on Friday, Sept. 26. In an Instagram post, the team said the move allows the brewery to focus on its Germantown location, where a permanent kitchen and a revamped patio are on the horizon for 2026.

Coming Soon

You might be wondering what’s next for Black Dynasty Secret Ramen House, which operates out of Bearded Iris Brewing. The last day of service is also Friday, Sept. 26, but the restaurant is working on opening a full-service location and will keep the ramen flowing through pop-ups and residencies in the meantime.

Traffic

NDOT selected 25 new traffic calming projects from over 600 community submissions. Examples of calming measures include speed cushions, street narrowing, and traffic circles at intersections. View the project map + learn how to nominate a street in the next round.

Watch

CBS will host a free fan event at Woolworth Theatre on Wednesday, Sept. 24 for its new series “Sheriff Country,” a spinoff of “Fire Country.” Expect a red carpet experience and a screening of the premiere. RSVP to the event, though keep in mind entry is first come, first served.

Cafe Cheeserie, located inside the Frist Art Museum, is offering a new pizzeria-inspired menu on Thursday nights. Stop by the cafe from 6 to 8 p.m. for pizzettas, salads, and focaccia (plus live music to set to mood).

Post of the Day

NASHtoday_PostoftheDay_NashvilleZoo_Aardwolves.png

Post via @nashvillezoo

“A species you’ve probably never heard of is now at Nashville Zoo.” That’s how the zoo described the two 14-week-old aardwolf pups now being raised in Music City. See the striped members of the hyena family at the HCA Healthcare Veterinary Center beginning tomorrow, Sept. 5.

Fun fact: Unlike other hyenas who hunt large prey, aardwolves enjoy eating termites — “sometimes licking up 300,000 in a single night with their sticky tongues.”
