PARK(ing) Day, a global event that temporarily turns street parking spaces into mini parks, has taken many forms in Nashville. It just so happens to be one of my favorite annual events.
For the past two years, Civic Design Center has marked the day by unveiling permanent parklets — one at at Wilburn Street Tavern + one at Bagelshop. This Sunday, Sept. 21, the spotlight shifts to a brand new parklet outside The Cupcake Collection in Germantown (and yes, I’m already contemplating my cupcake order).
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 6th Avenue North between Madison and Monroe will be closed to cars. If you’re planning to go, you can check the schedule and vendor list ahead of time.
Metro is piloting priority lanes downtown. A protected center lane on Lower Broadway will be reserved for emergency vehicles, and a 4th Avenue lane is dedicated to WeGo buses. The pilot is in effect on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. through the end of October. (WZTV)
Sports
Eyes on the prize. Nashville SC will face Austin FC in the 2025 US Open Cup Final on Wednesday, Oct. 1. It’s an away match, so tune in at 7 p.m. via Paramount+ or the CBS Sports Network. A win would deliver their first championship and a 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup berth.
Concert
Ed Sheeran’s “Loop” tour will make a stop in Nashville next summer on Saturday, June 20. If this sounds like a “Perfect” night out, tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 26. In other concert news, mgk will take the stage at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Holiday
Sundown on Monday, Sept. 22 marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The celebration runs until sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 24. For those looking for last-minute treats, Dozen Bakery and Jewish Cowboy have specialty items available for pre-order.

I say this all the time, but it’s shaping up to be another busy weekend in Music City. I couldn’t fit everything into today’s Events section, so here are a couple more I’d like to shout out:
Vanderbilt vs. Georgia State | There aren’t many tickets left, but those in attendance at tomorrow’s football game will be treated to a drone show at halftime.
