The Nashville Sounds take the field this week for their final home series this season, a six-game showdown against the Gwinnett Stripers (Atlanta Braves). Hit City fans can look forward to:
  • Weekly promos — It’s the last chance for Tito’s Tail Waggin’ Tuesday, Throwback Thursday, Fireworks Friday, and Sunday Family Fun Day.
  • Giveaways — Be one of the first 1,000 fans on Wednesday (windbreaker) and Saturday (hoodie).
  • Guest chef series — Sean Wen from Curry Boys will have a special menu item at The Band Box on Thursday, Sept. 11.
  • Copa de la Diversion — The Sounds play as Las Vihuelas on Friday, Sept. 12.
Although the Sounds’ season is winding down, the Milwaukee Brewers (their big-league affiliate) are cruising toward the playoffs with the best record in MLB as of now.

This former Zillow exec is targeting a $1.3 trillion market

Presented by Pacaso

Austin Allison’s Pacaso has already earned $110 million+ in gross profit to date. | Image provided by Pacaso
Austin Allison sold his first company to Zillow for $120 million. Now he’s building another real estate innovator in Pacaso.

Pacaso has already made $110 million+ in gross profits to date by disrupting the $1.3 trillion vacation home market, and the same big investors that backed Uber and eBay have already invested.

But unlike Austin’s previous companies, everyday investors (like you) can invest in Pacaso as a private company. Over 10,000 individuals already have.

News Notes

Film

NightLight 615 added three outdoor movies leading up to Halloween: “Wicked” (Oct. 9) and “Sinners” (Oct. 10) at Bicentennial Park and 2007’s “It” (Oct. 16) at Cumberland Park. Tickets are on sale now starting at $12.

Mansion Monday

Located right down the road from Radnor Lake, this 6-bedroom, 10-bath home in the Você community stands out with a Salvador Dalí-inspired staircase, a glass-walled gym, and a pool surrounded by sweeping treetop views. Just don’t make us count the number of windows.

Plan Ahead

Have a grand ole time at Opry Community Day on Sunday, Oct. 5, offering Tennessee residents free Opry House tours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plus, enjoy live music, Opry-themed bingo, backyard games, line dancing, and food trucks on the plaza.

Number

55. That’s how many days are left until daylight saving time ends and the clock falls back one hour. Translation: It’s time to take advantage of golden-hour hangs after work while you still can. Might we suggest a sunset stroll through one of Nashville’s parks?
Sometimes, a picture-perfect moment happens. Even rarer than that is for someone to catch it on film. Lucky for us, those moments are portrayed in this year’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year award. This is your sign to bring your camera to the Nashville Zoo to hone your craft.

Pets

Did you know? According to data from Zillow, 58% of renters are pet owners, meaning that rentals who roll out the welcome mat to Fido and Mittens may fill up faster than those that don’t. We can’t say we blame them — Nashville is a pet’s paradise after all.

Start your week the Nashville way: with a plate piled high at a classic meat-and-three restaurant. From fried chicken and roast beef to mac and cheese and turnip greens, these spots bring comfort to your weekly meal planning.

Arnold’s Country Kitchen

Choose from four to six meats daily and rotating sides. The serving line moves quickly, and we recommend grabbing a slice of chocolate meringue pie.

Barbara’s Home Cooking

Reader recommendation: “You pull up and think you might accidentally be at someone’s house, then you order the poppyseed chicken with field peas and have yourself one of the best home-cooked meals you’ve ever had.” — Paul R.

Cal’s Country Kitchen

In mid-2024, Slim & Husky’s co-owner Clint Gray teamed up with restaurateur Marcus Buggs to revive the restaurant, which operated in Madison for over 20 years.
